March 28th- JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes

The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes brings people together in a healthy activity for a worthy goal. The Walk is fun for families and builds camaraderie among company employees. The walk provides hope, empowerment and a sense of community. Your participation shows your commitment to the large scale movement to conquer type 1 diabetes one step at a time.  Take your first step by registering today! The Walk to Cure Diabetes will take place Saturday, March 28th at the Greenville Convention Center.  Registration begins at 8:30am. Walkers will be treated to morning refreshments, post-walk snacks, entertainment, special attractions, children's activities, and plenty of family fun!  To register for the JDRF Walk as either a Team Captain or team walker, please visit www.walk.jdrf.org .

March 28th- Squealin' for a Cure 5k

The Squealin’ for a Cure 5 K Glow Run is back again on March 28th! This event is hosted by the Murphy Brown Relay for Life team, and timed by Run the East. The route is through downtown historic Kenansville and surrounding residential areas. Black light areas and a community decoration contest will provide entertainment along the route. A costume contest, vendors, food, children’s play area, and a DJ will keep you busy at the start/finish area. There is a Diaper Dash for children 3 & under, a 1 mile Fun Run for children 4-10 years of age.  This family friendly event offers a little something for everyone while providing a challenging route for the serious runner. United Way of Onslow County invites the community to Vine & Dine: A Taste of the Town Event. Vine & Dine is a gourmet tasting event that features local restaruants and beverage purveyors, including wineries and microbreweries. There will also be a silent auction fundraiser.

April 24-25- Relay for Life

Grover C. Fields Middle School in New Bern will once more host the Relay for Life. This is a family-friendly overnight fundraising event that brings a community together to raise awareness of those who have been touched by cancer. During this event there will be participants walking the track from Opening Ceremony until the Closing Ceremony.Opening Ceremony will begin at 7pm with survivors/caregivers (those who have had cancer and a loved one who helped to take care of them.) At 9pm we light the track for the Luminary Ceremony to honor and remember loved ones. More info click here.

April 25th- Let's G.O.

Let’s G.O., Let’s Get Outside in Williamston’s Downtown Park! The Let’s G.O. event will be held from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday April 25th and features games, activities, and prizes for all ages! Let’s G.O. is free of charge and participants include the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the Albemarle Pamlico National Estuary Partnership, the Sierra Club, local outfitters, and more. Have you ever wanted to learn about local kayaking or biking trails? Do you want to teach your children more about nature? Do you want to get in shape this year? If so, this event is for you! Bring the whole family out to learn more about local outdoor recreation opportunities, nature, wildlife, green living, renewable energy, and more. The address is 100 W.
