April 19th - Walstonburg's "Proud to be an American Day"
Walstonburg is having its 6th annual “Proud to be An American Day” celebration on Saturday, April 19, 2014.  This event takes place at the American Legion Building at 102 S. April 26th - Spring Vendor Fair/Craft Show
The Spring Vendor/Craft Show in Ernul starts at 10AM and lasts util 3PM at the Little Swift Creek Vol. Fire Department and proceeds go to benefit the Little Creek Vol. Fire Department. Enjoy a day filled with professional vendor merchandise and homemade crafts. April 26th - Urban Gorillas Presents: Crowd Control

April 26th - The Great Glow Run, Wilmington at 8PM.
Participate in North Carolina's original illuminated 5k race. Break the cycle of those early morning runs and sign up today for the 2014 Great Glow Run. Participants of all ages and abilities dress in their favorite glow gear to shine their brightest while making a difference for people with disabilities and mental health challenges. April 26th - Zion UMC Cancer Relief Ride
The Zion United Methodist Church in Mount Olive will be hosting a Ride to benefit local cancer patients. Registration begins at 9AM with the ride beginning at 11AM at the Cliffs of the Neuse State Park off of Highway 111 S Seven Springs, NC. It is $20 to participate and $25 for a couple. May 2nd - Walk A Mile In Her Shoes
Walk A Mile In Her Shoes will be held on May 2nd in downtown New Bern, NC at Union Point Park. Registration on site will start at 5PM and the walk will begin at 6PM. Come walk through historic downtown and in an inch or two higher than ever before. Pre-registration is $10 online via cecwalksamile.weebly.com. The first 50 registrants will receive an official Walk a Mile t-shirt. Donations are appreciated. All proceeds go to the local domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center.
 
May 2nd-3rd - Beaufort County Relay for Life
Beaufort County Relay for Life will be held at Washington High School Track. The survivor lap begins at 6PM and the luminary ceremony begins at 9PM. To register or for more information go to www.relayforlife.org/beaufortnc . 
 
May 3rd - Jacksonville Jamboree
Jacksonville Jamboree is a three day event Friday through Sunday at the Jacksonville Commons. Statewide sports competitions run throughout the Jamboree and include softball, baseball, basketball, skateboard, tennis, and BMX. Saturday is the day for musical entertainment, the annual "Jacksonville's Got Talent" competition as well as food and marketplace vendors. Demonstrations from local organizations as well as children's activity and play area make the Jacksonville Jamboree a well rounded event for the family.

May 3rd - Community Fair and Sport Expo
White Oak Church of God is having a "Community Fair and Sport Expo" on May 3rd at 9:00AM till 2:00PM. There will be a variety of vendors and crafters and a Fish Fry along with concessions and homemade baked goods! Admission is free and everyone in the community is welcome. Some of the fun includes: Crafts for kids, cake walk, face painting, clowns and balloons, bounce house, sack races, and way more. The Carteret Fire Department and American Red Cross will be there offering their support! It will be lots of family fun and business building!
 
May 10th - 4 OSS Automotive Expo
Saturday May 10, 2014 from 11AM-3PM the 4 Operations Support Squadron Booster Club will be hosting their 2nd Annual Automotive Expo. The event is at the Kmart on Berkely Blvd and is sponsored by Kmart. There will be several of the local car dealerships in attendance and there will be cook out type foods (hot dogs, chips, etc). Five prizes given out: Best Motorcycle, Best Stereo, Best Import Car, Best Domestic Car, and Best Truck/Jeep. For more information email Lauren Coppens at SilverHawksBoosterClub@gmail.com.
 
May 10th - Hope For Chance 1st annual 5k run/ 3k walk
Hope For Chance is a Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) awareness non-profit organization. Money raised during events and daily donations go towards SIDS research groups and parents who cannot afford a proper burial for their children. Hope for Chance was founded by two US Marine Sergeants Kyle and Michelle Moskiewicz when they lost their son Chance of 3 months to SIDS. No suitable reason has been determined for the loss of their child and thus Hope For Chance was organized with a passion in hope that they can help other families never have to live without the closure and reason of why they lost their child whom doctors say was “perfectly healthy”. Hope for Chance 5k run/3k walk will be held at Havelock, High School, Havelock, NC 28532 at noon. For more information go to hopeforchance.org
 
May 16th - Knights of Columbus Golf Classic
The Knights of Columbus will be holding a fundraiser to benefit Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew 826 and John Paul II High School at Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville on Friday, May 16th starting at 11:45AM. Lunch will be provided by King's Restaurant. Win a celebrity to play golf on your team, Tony Collins (ECU Football Star) and friends. There will be raffles and awards. May 30-31st - Carteret County Relay for Life
The Relay For Life of Carteret County is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease. The Carteret Relay For Life will be held May 30th-31st at West Carteret High School starting at 6pm. for more information and to sign up go to relayforlife.org/carteretnc

 
May 31st - Amazing Race
Washington, NC will be hosting a scavenger hunt race patterned after the TV reality show, "The Amazing Race." Teams of 2 must complete challenges that are strategically located within a 10 mile radius of Washington-Beaufort County. The team registration fee is $25 and serves as a place holder in the race. Each team must raise a minumum of $250 for Ruth's House to compete. But more is welcome! This is a charity fund raiser and all proceeds raised/donated will support Ruth's House. All donations received are tax deductible. The team that raises the most money for Ruth's House (over $500) will recieve the $500 prize money. The Grand Prize is $1000.
